What is PassLogic Authentication?
This is an authentication method that uses a matrix of random numbers; by reading the numbers according to a predetermined pattern, they can be used as a one-time password.
First Login and Password Change Procedures for PassLogic
[First-Time Use] These are the steps for your first login.
Enter the User ID listed in the ” PassLogic Service Activation Notice”
When you start PassLogic, you will receive a ” PassLogic Start-up Notice” via email or other means.
Click the URL listed in the ” PassLogic Service Activation Notice” to open the login page. In the User ID field on the login page, enter your User ID in the User ID field on the login page.
Next, select from the drop-down menu and click the [Next] button.
Login for the first time using the pattern listed in the ” PassLogic Service Activation Notice”
The pattern to use for your first login is listed in the ” PassLogic Service Activation Notice”
Confirm the initial login pattern, which is represented by “*” and numbers. Follow the pattern to read the one-time password from the matrix table and type it into the password field using your keyboard.
PassLogic an additional phrase is specified in the “PassLogic Start-up Notice,” enter it immediately after the one-time password.
Click the [Login] button.
Set your own pattern
If the password change screen appears after your first login, set a new pattern.
From the matrix table displayed on the screen, the pattern you want to set from the matrix table displayed on the screen, enter it in the password field, and click the [Next] button.
The new pattern is set by three times. The matrix table updates after each entry, so you will enter a different one-time password each time, even if the pattern remains the same. Once the third entry is successfully completed, the pattern change is complete.
Tips for creating a pattern
For detailed rules, please refer to ” Pattern Settings ” and ” Pattern Restrictions ” in the “Glossary” at the bottom of the page.
Login Successful!
Once the pattern is set correctly, your initial login is complete.
If you are using the single sign-on feature
After logging in, you can access multiple business systems and applications single sign-on. Simply click the application you wish to use to navigate to the post-login screen.
Explanation of Terminology
Matrix Table
A matrix table with randomly arranged numbers will appear on the login screen.
To prevent your pattern from being seen by others based on the cursor’s movement on the screen, you cannot click the numbers in the matrix table directly. Please read the numbers and enter them using the keyboard.
The basic matrix consists of three 4×4 blocks arranged horizontally. The number of cells can be customized by the administrator for each group or policy.
Pattern
To extract the numbers that will serve as your one-time password from the matrix table, the location and order of the cells
First, the user decides “from which cells” and “in what order” to extract the numbers. These cell positions and the order form the user’s unique “pattern.”
Pattern Settings
Users can freely set their own patterns.
- The position and order of the grid squares can be freely set in any direction—vertical, horizontal, or diagonal.
- They do not need to be adjacent.
- You can select the same cell more than once.
- The number of cells selected is not fixed. Select cells so that they meet the “pattern length range” set by the administrator. (Default: 6 to 12 characters)
- The administrator may have set restrictions such as “Prohibit patterns that can be drawn in a single stroke” or “Use all blocks.”
About Pattern Settings for First Login
For the initial login, users log in using the pattern provided in the notification sent by the administrator via email or other means. After the initial login, the system will automatically redirect you to the pattern settings screen; follow the instructions and enter your own pattern three times to set it up.
Changing Patterns
You can change your pattern and additional phrase at any time by clicking the “Change Password” button at the bottom of the screen after logging in. Just as when changing the pattern during your first login, enter the combination of your new pattern and additional phrase three times to set it.
Pattern Restrictions
Setting a simple pattern may reduce security strength. Administrators can restrict patterns as described below. You can combine multiple restrictions as needed. Since the pattern you wish to set may not be available, Contact Us for details.
Prohibition of single-stroke input
Patterns consisting solely of adjacent positions that can be drawn in a single continuous stroke from start to finish are prohibited. “Adjacent positions” refer to positions in the eight directions surrounding a specific position.
Require selection of at least one item from every block
Patterns are prohibited unless they utilize at least one cell from each of the three blocks in the matrix table.
Individual settings for prohibited patterns
Obvious simple patterns can be individually specified and prohibited.
Additional Phrases
You can combine letters and symbols with the numbers in the one-time password.
This string is called the “additional phrase.”
You can enhance security by adding the “additional phrase”—a fixed string set by the user—before, after, or in the middle of the numbers read according to the pattern.
Characters and symbols that can be used in additional phrases
You can use single-byte alphanumeric characters and symbols in the additional phrase.
- Half-width alphanumeric characters are case-sensitive.
- The following symbols can be used. (Commas and colons cannot be used.)

- The minimum and maximum lengths for the additional phrase are set by the administrator. (Default: 0 to 6 characters).
